Camp And Instructors Announced

NASHVILLE—Feburary 18, 2020 – The Pete Huttlinger Guitar & Fly Fishing Camp, which is held in the Paradise Valley area of Montana, has announced their dates for this year. The popular acoustic guitar camp, will be held August 9-13 just outside of Livingston, Montana, and will include 3 full days of instruction and one day of guided fly fishing on the Yellowstone River. Teachers for this year’s camp will be Jeff Troxel and Clive Carroll. Troxel is a highly-regarded acoustic guitarist and National Flatpicking champion (2003), who has taught at previous PHGFFC camps.  Carroll's masterful compositions, coupled with his virtuosity have rendered him one of today's most admired and respected guitarists.

In 2017 Pete's manager and wife, Erin Morris Huttlinger, announced the continuation of the camp despite the passing of the camp’s founder.  Pete died from a stroke on January 15, 2016.  She explained, “After a lot of wonderful encouragement and positive nudging I am very pleased that the Pete Huttlinger Guitar & Fly Fishing Camp will continue.  Originally, I couldn’t conceive of doing any camps without Pete. I can’t duplicate his energy when it comes to teaching and sharing. However, thanks to many of his fans, I realized that what Pete and I created, with regard to the camp in Montana and the camps in our home, was a great experience for so many people--us in particular.  He would be happy to know that it endured. I find that I am excited at the prospect of throwing myself into the organization of the event, and I’m pleased to have found something that will carry Pete’s name into the future.”

The concept of the camp came from Huttlinger’s well-known love of both guitars and of fly fishing.  His track “Catch & Release,” from the album of the same title, was the beloved theme to ESPN’s “Fly Fishing America” tv program for many years. 

Music Ranch Montana will continue as the host venue for each day's activities.  Yellowstone Anglers hosts the day of fishing. The camp is all-inclusive and includes food, instruction, hotel and fly fishing.  Fly fishing equipment will be provided.
