First Light Virtual Fireplace!

First Light Virtual Fireplace!

I don’t know about all of you, but I love virtual fireplaces. Sure, I love real fireplaces too, but they can’t follow me from room to room. During the fall and winter months I’ll often stream a virtual fireplace to the television in whatever room I might be sitting. I’ve wanted to create one to accompany Pete’s wonderful Christmas album, First Light, for quite a while. Now, it’s here and FREE for everyone’s enjoyment on YouTube. I hope you enjoy! After all these months of being cooped up, are you ready to breathe some fresh air and try something new?

The Pete Huttlinger Guitar & Fly Fishing Camp has become a staple in the world of acoustic music camps. The world-renowned guitarist loved to teach, to jam, and to fly fish. So, in 2014 he and his wife Erin figured out a way to combine all three of his loves, and the camp idea was born. They chose the perfect spot—Music Ranch Montana, just outside of Livingston, Montana. A beautiful ranch nestled in Paradise Valley in the Absaroka Mountain Range and just north of Yellowstone National Park. After Pete passed away in 2016, Erin decided to continue hosting the camp as Pete would want all of us to keep making music together!

ON THE PASSING OF BILL COLLINGS – A NOTE FROM ERIN HUTTLINGER

The first time Pete played a Collings guitar it became his -- his sound. He called his main Collings guitar "God's Guitar" because, he said, "if God played a guitar, it would be this one."  Pete toured all over the world with that instrument, and it truly was an extension of him.  It moved him. He owned many Collings of different models, but still, when he’d pick up God’s Guitar, he would shake his head and say "this guitar just sounds so good." He played different brands and styles of guitars for different needs. But it was that guitar that healed him--through a stroke and heart failure. Bill Collings and his whole crew were so much more than our guitar builder. Bill felt a responsibility and a love for the musicians that played the instruments he made. The Pete Huttlinger signature models they created helped us through hugely difficult times when Pete was recovering, and still now that he’s gone. Not only are we forever grateful, we know how rare that kind of pure love is. As a friend told me this week, "Bill cried for Pete, and now we all cry for Bill."

COLLINGS ANNOUNCES NEW PETE HUTTLINGER MODEL

Pete loved fly fishing almost as much as he loved playing guitar. Now, Collings Guitars has blended Pete's two loves into one beautiful 2nd Limited Edition OM1 Cutaway, a replica of his favorite guitar that he used for touring and numerous recordings. Pete had a long and significant relationship with the Austin-based guitar company, founded by luthier Bill Collings

The new model was released on Saturday (1/21) at Winter NAMM (National Assn. of Music Merchants) in Anaheim, CA. The company issued this statement regarding the project: An incredible guitar player, and a friend to many here at the Collings shop, Pete Huttlinger has remained the first and only player to have a signature model Collings guitar. An initial run of these guitars was offered from 2011 to 2013, and we are excited to once again offer Petes favorite model of Collings guitar in his honor. This second run of limited edition models will feature a custom fly fishing inlay, reflecting his long-time love of the sport. The first 15 that are produced will also feature his handwritten signature on the label inside the guitar.

A portion of the proceeds from each guitar will be given to the Pete Huttlinger Fund for Adult Congenital Cardiac Research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. The fund was initiated by Pete's wife, Erin Morris Huttlinger, and Dr. Frank Fish, his long-time cardiologist and friend. Dr. Fish tended to Petes rare health issues for over 15 years. In 2011, not long after Pete recovered from his first stroke and heart failure, he and Dr. Fish walked a half-marathon together.

Pete's interest in fly fishing goes all the way back to 1995 when he released his debut album, Catch & Release. The title track was used for many years as the theme for ESPNs Fly Fishing America.Pete and Erin also hosted the Pete Huttlinger Guitar & Fly Fishing Camp in Livingston, Montana in 2014 and 2105.
